Hungary Prepares for Trump-Putin Summit: Budapest Offers Support

Hungary is preparing to host a summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The country promises to provide all necessary conditions for talks aimed at establishing peace in Europe.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced that the Hungarian side is actively working on preparations for the meeting, supporting efforts for a peaceful resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He noted that he has already communicated with several key diplomatic figures, including U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Hungary guarantees Putin’s security during his stay in the country.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán confirmed that Budapest is one of the few places that consistently advocates for peace and is ready to facilitate the peace process. He emphasized the importance of the meeting, which could contribute to stabilizing the situation in the region.

The leaders’ meeting is planned in the context of phone talks between Trump and Putin, which took place on the night of October 16th. They discussed the situation in Ukraine and agreed to meet in Budapest within the next two weeks. Meanwhile, on October 17th, a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump will take place in the U.S.
