Péter Magyar said that U.S. President Donald Trump’s agreement with Vladimir Putin on exports of Russian diesel is significant for Hungary. In his view, after that, it would be illogical not to extend the country’s exemption from sanctions on oil and gas supplies from Russia.
Magyar said this in an interview with radio station 444. In the original source, he is identified as Hungary’s prime minister.
“I believe that the American president makes the agreements he considers necessary. On the other hand, this agreement does have some significance from Hungary’s perspective.”

According to Magyar, Hungary has an exemption from sanctions on supplies of Russian oil and gas until November. He also said that the United States renews this exemption every year.
The politician linked the possible extension of the waiver to Trump’s diesel agreement, saying that after it, “it would be illogical not to grant Hungary this waiver for at least another year.”
Recently, Trump accused Ukraine of causing diesel prices to rise globally through attacks on Russian oil refineries. At the same time, the original source states that diesel prices had been rising since the beginning of the year because of the U.S. war with Iran.
