Massive attack left three Ukrainian regions without power

As a result of a massive attack on the energy infrastructure of the southern regions of Ukraine, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions were left without power supply. Because of this, the schedules for power outages were temporarily suspended.

The national energy company “Ukrenergo” reported severe damage following the attack on the night of December 13. It was noted that energy facilities were hit, resulting in a significant number of consumers in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions being left without electricity, and the right bank of the Kherson region completely blacked out.

Moreover, drone attacks caused damage in the Chernihiv region, where emergency work is planned to start as soon as it is safe. “Ukrenergo” also urged residents in regions with hourly outages to conserve electricity to reduce the duration of forced outages.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, reported that the main strike was targeted at the energy infrastructure and southern regions, including Odesa. He noted that two people were injured in the Odesa area, more than a dozen civilian objects were damaged, and thousands of families were left without power in different regions of Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, over 450 strike drones and 30 missiles of various types were used in the attack. Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv regional administration, added information about the injured in the region, where three people were hospitalized.

At the time of publication, over a million subscribers remain without electricity. In Odesa, public transport operations have been halted, and “Ukrzaliznytsia” reported temporary cancellations and delays of trains.
