The Armed Forces of Ukraine have regained control over 16 sq. km of territory north of Pokrovsk, stated Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. Active actions by Ukrainian defenders continue in the region despite logistical challenges.
Over the past weeks, Ukrainian troops have launched a successful offensive in the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration, reclaiming 16 square kilometers. According to the General Staff, the Russian army attempts daily to break through to the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Pokrovsk direction, making 19 attempts in just one day on December 13.
Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that there have been no territorial losses in the Kupiansk, Kostiantynivka, and Prydniprovske directions. He also emphasized that the statements of Russian propaganda about the advance of their troops are far from reality.
Earlier, the seventh Air Assault Brigade reported the redeployment of Ukrainian forces to more favorable lines near Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad to preserve the lives of defenders and improve logistical support. The command noted that this maneuver contributed to leveling the front line.
The situation in the region improved after the Ukrainian forces’ offensive in November, during which strategically important territories were reclaimed. This operation became a key stage in regaining control over Pokrovsk.
