Ukrainian drones expand strike zone in the east, targeting Russian air defense systems
In eastern Ukraine, the influence of Ukrainian drones has increased, allowing them to strike Russian air defense systems, advancing deeper into enemy territory.
New footage shows a Ukrainian FVP drone destroying a Russian “Osa” missile system, confirming the expansion of the so-called “strike zone” towards the rear positions of Russian troops. According to Ivan Kirychevsky, a weapons expert at Defense Express and a member of the 413th “Raid” regiment, this is a significant event in the east of the country, where active combat operations are currently taking place.
The “Osa” serves as a primary air defense system for the Russians, covering their troops and hindering free operations by Ukrainian helicopter and medium-range drone pilots. However, as Kirychevsky noted, the drone’s success indicates the expansion of the Ukrainian strike zone.
Despite Russian troops’ efforts to protect against drones using older air defense systems like the “Shilka” and “Tunguska,” this has not prevented Ukrainian military from achieving their goals. Kirychevsky explains that the destruction of the “Osa” could leave part of the rear of the Russian occupiers unprotected, creating opportunities for further attacks on storage or command facilities.
Earlier in November, it was reported that Ukrainian drone operators increased the number of successful attacks on Russian ground robotic complexes.
