Ukrenergo proposed changing electricity transmission tariffs in 2026.
The national energy company Ukrenergo appealed to the NEURC with a proposal to review tariffs for 2026. However, the new tariffs do not concern residential consumers and will not affect the cost of electricity for the population.
Ukrenergo noted that the reasons for the tariff review are the increase in exchange rates, the decrease in the forecasted volume of electricity transmission, and the increase in price caps by the regulator from May 1st. This creates additional financial pressure on the company, especially in terms of fulfilling special obligations to “green” generation, whose price is fixed in euros.
A review of the forecasted balance of the United Energy System of Ukraine also showed a decrease in the volume of generation and transmission of electricity by 9.5% and 5.5%, respectively, which directly affects Ukrenergo’s tariff revenue.
The liberalization of price caps from May additionally increases the average weighted electricity price for Ukrenergo’s settlements with market participants. The company emphasizes that balanced tariffs are important for winter preparation and avoiding debts in the electricity market.
In December 2025, the NEURC approved a tariff increase for 2026: at the beginning of the year, they will amount to 713.68 UAH/MWh, and from April – 742.91 UAH/MWh. In February of this year, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 41%, with Hungary having the largest share in imports – 49%.
| Period | Tariff, UAH/MWh |
|---|---|
| January–March 2026 | 713.68 |
| April–December 2026 | 742.91 |
