Kherson region needs strategic decisions instead of food packages
The Kherson region, which is still under the pressure of war, lacks long-term strategic solutions to stabilize the situation. Humanitarian aid remains insufficient to overcome constant stress and danger.
For almost four years, the inhabitants of Kherson have been living in a state of war, with a shortage of resources and security conditions. The region’s budget for 2025 is around $285 million, yet there are no significant changes in the population’s quality of life. People receive only food packages and social assistance, which solve only temporary problems.
Experts emphasize the need for strategic decisions that would include the evacuation of residents to safe regions or the reclamation of territories. Current assistance is insufficient to ensure stability and security. It is now necessary to develop a model for integrating displaced persons into other communities in Ukraine.
So far, authorities and civil organizations are trying to support the basic needs of citizens, but without sustainable solutions, residents will continue to live under high stress conditions. To improve the situation, it is necessary to provide continuous humanitarian aid that would inspire people to stay and develop at home or provide the opportunity for safe relocation.
